Mama Roscoe's Pizzeria

Food/ Service

The current website has a fun, cute personality, but we’re finding that personality alone may not be doing enough to convert visitors into actual patrons. I’ve taken a vested interest in helping change that.

THE STORY

Mama Roscoe's Pizzeria

Mama Roscoe’s has been one of the more challenging projects because the website has to do more than simply provide information—it needs to help overcome some real-world challenges with the location and convert online visitors into customers walking through the door.

The restaurant sits near a freeway exit that has been under construction for more than two years, which has significantly affected traffic in the area. By 8:00 PM there is very little activity around the location, so the restaurant closes earlier than many people might expect from a pizzeria. On top of that, Mama Roscoe’s isn’t inexpensive—and it shouldn’t be. They use quality ingredients and serve some of the best Italian food and pizza I’ve tasted, and I’m a bit of a pizza nut.

The current website has a fun, cute personality, but we’re finding that personality alone may not be doing enough to convert visitors into actual patrons. I’ve taken a vested interest in helping change that.

We’re currently developing a new direction for Mama Roscoe’s that is more inviting, polished, and food-focused, similar to the approach we took with Greek Street Grill. Instead of relying so heavily on graphics and personality, the new site will let the food do much more of the selling—large, beautiful photography, stronger presentation, easier access to the menu and ordering, and a better overall sense of the quality customers can expect when they arrive.

This is a good example of a website that needs to evolve with the business. Mama Roscoe’s doesn’t have a food problem—the challenge is getting more people to discover just how good the food actually is.
